Bell versus Ottar – Fight Analysis

PindilBy PindilJuly 29, 2025Updated:August 28, 2025079 Mins Read
Bell versus Ottar

The second phase of the Bell versus Ottar boss fight was the true culmination of everyone’s efforts—after Ryu’s level skip, Mia’s recruitment, and Hedin’s betrayal. Now, we get to Bell’s status update, Haruhime’s level-ups, and Hedin’s secret. All of it was needed to topple the king known as Zotar—along with his own transformation working against him to bring that defeat ever closer.

So, before I switch focus to Lord of the Mysteries for the summer, here are all those extra details you may have missed from the epic climax of Season 5—the hard-fought battle between three level sevens, a pseudo level six, and a level eight. The defeat of Danachi’s strongest adventurer—even if just for five minutes.

Ottar Battle Portrait

To start things off with Phase 1: Ottar.

For many who saw him as the epitome of strength, his true worth lay in his defense. Even with Bell and Mia acting as decoys, a full barrage of 72 orbs of Luminous Wind still wasn’t enough to faze him. Whatever torrent of attacks these three could come up with, Ottar’s defense was always greater. His sturdy limbs and powerful greatsword were impenetrable.

It’s not like he just stood there tanking everything, either. His technique was so immaculate, it almost seemed like he could see into the future. The way every offensive was handled with precision felt unnatural—as if he had some kind of divine shield protecting him. Keep in mind: this was all without using magic or skills. What Bell, Ryu, and Mia were seeing was the crystallization of time itself—an adventurer who never stopped polishing himself. This was the result of a lifetime of refinement, and only Mia could see this truth.

As someone who witnessed his forging firsthand, Mia understood the time and effort Ottar had put in to achieve this height. He was a man who no longer attended Folkvangr because no threats remained. A man who stopped descending into the dungeon because his body had already reached its limit. Even if he did explore further, barely anything—if anything—could raise his abilities. The only thing left to strengthen was himself.

So Ottar trained alone, imagining enemies from the past while refining his technique and mastering his tactics. Only if Freya permitted him to embark on a life-risking trial would he reach greater strength. Until then, he would continue building himself as a warrior.

This is what separated him from the Sword Princess. While Ais fought only monsters in the dungeon, Ottar honed himself in every way. That’s why the Loki Familia could never crack him, despite clashing multiple times. Even the combined efforts of Tione, Tiona, and Ais weren’t enough to break his defenses.

So, during the War Game, as they all watched, it became clear to everyone: Ottar was at the cusp of Level 8. A summit once exclusive to the Zeus and Hera Familias was now being approached by someone new. In this era, Ottar was the new summit.

With his Level 7 stats already maxed out, this beastial transformation brought him up to Level 8. It’s common knowledge that such transformations offer a full level’s worth of strength—hence the saying, “No race is a match for a werewolf during the full moon.”

But unlike Bet and other werewolves, Ottar’s transformation wasn’t situational. He could trigger it anytime. The moment Ottar exhibited a power-up similar to Haruhime’s level boost, everyone watching could only stare in awe, knowing they were witnessing a Level 8. They refused to admit it, because acknowledging it would mean there was no point in watching further.

Ottar confirmed that fear immediately. As if to declare the battle over, he punched the ground barehanded—shattering everything. The shockwave was far greater than anything seen thus far. The earth rippled from the impact, tossing up any unprepared adventurer. Ottar had literally reshaped the entire island with a single strike—the biggest quake of the day.

Normally, this would have been the end. But once again, reinforcements arrived just in time.

Hedin and the crew, battle

Though Hedin and Mia didn’t understand the magic that enveloped them, their stunned reaction said it all—they knew exactly what it did. While Bell was getting his status updated, Hedin, Ryu, and Mia were all boosted to Level 7. Ottar still had the edge at Level 8, but now the others could finally react to his attacks.

Controlling this new power was a different issue. Their stats had increased so dramatically that handling their own speed and strength became a challenge. It required full mental focus to keep their bodies in check.

The fight played out much like in the anime, except now Ryu incorporated an ability from a fallen comrade: Rya Vindmia, an AoE healing spell from the Estrella Familia. It healed Mia, Hedin, and even Bell—but only partially. Their bodies recovered, but their minds were nearing exhaustion. Spells were reaching their limit.

That’s when Hedin moved to the front lines. With his magic support no longer as effective, he decided the best way to contribute was by becoming a frontline battle mage. Ryu and Mia weren’t the only ones switching things up.

Ottar, once relying on absolute defense, now unleashed his absolute offense. You’d think his beastial form would dull his intellect, but his tactics remained refined. His battle instincts were razor-sharp—each attack, fatal.

The key to surviving was simple: don’t let Ottar attack. If one blow could end them, they had to force him onto the defensive. And that’s exactly what they did—with relentless, unpredictable attacks from all angles, Ottar found himself striking nothing but air.

Their earlier defeat had taught them exactly what they needed. These three Level 7s were now evenly matched with this one Level 8.

Bell could only watch in awe. To him, they were adventurers far beyond his reach. What he didn’t realize, however, was that he was much closer than he thought.

Yes, Bell had just reached Level 5. But with triple-S stats, Haruhime’s level boost, and a new update from Hestia, Bell could very well match a standard Level 7. For those wondering—his total stat increase was over 1,000 across the board. Not enough to beat Ottar alone, but maybe enough with help.

Haruhime boosted Bell to Level 6, granting him 20 minutes of unprecedented power. The result? A heroic battle, where an impossible peak was being climbed.

The team could now crush any threat in the dungeon’s Deep Floors. Still, Ottar remained unfazed. But then came his weakness—something Finn had pointed out earlier.

Ottar’s transformation wasn’t perfect. While it could be activated at will, it consumed an enormous amount of stamina and mind. Maintaining it drained him faster than his auto-heal could recover. Unlike werewolves, who suffered no downside, Ottar’s form would inevitably lead to defeat if the fight dragged on.

This was Freya’s main concern when she heard Ottar roar—he had essentially boxed himself into two choices: end the fight quickly or find a way to reset. Neither seemed likely.

But Ottar was no stranger to desperation. A survivor of the Zeus and Hera era, he knew the taste of humiliation. You wouldn’t know it now, but Ottar was a loser who fought his way to victory.

This is why he could keep pushing. Despite the injuries and exhaustion, that fatigue became his fuel. So, no matter how hard Bell tried—how fast he struck—Ottar responded the same way he always did: unrelentingly.

That meant Bell had to try even harder.

Freya Self Portrait

As the fight dragged on, for the first time, Hedin witnessed what Freya saw in Bell. Though he couldn’t see Bell’s soul, the fighting spirit was undeniable. It was as transparent as Freya said. And now, even Hedin was being “corrupted” by it.

This confirmed it: Bell was the only one who could save Freya. His efforts were nothing short of heroic. And though the thought disgusted him, Hedin finally understood.

In that moment, Hedin acknowledged Bell. With his last ounce of strength before succumbing to Mind Down, he unleashed one final attack—a melee-range lightning cannon. It struck Ottar directly. But Ottar tanked it, and Hedin was cut down.

Bell would save him—and receive Hedin’s ultimate enchantment: Blessing of Lightning.

Hedin had never used it before because it could only be cast on someone he acknowledged. Now, with Bell earning that respect, Lórrís Hildr powered him up even further.

The result? Bell unleashed a barrage of 44 slashes in a single second. Ottar blocked them all, but by then, the damage was done—his body was electrified.

You’d think Ottar would’ve anticipated this, but Hedin’s third magic was a secret only Freya knew. This buff didn’t just boost speed—it granted immense power and armor-piercing strength. It was impractical in normal battles because it consumed all of Hedin’s mind—but perfect in this one.

Bell now wore lightning armor, moved like Ais’s Ariel, and struck harder than any enchantment. Even Ottar’s defense couldn’t hold up.

And still—Ottar adapted.

With his vision, strength, and experience, Ottar adjusted

in an instant. The fight reminded Bell of Asterios—not a duel to win, but a struggle to not lose.

Still, Bell knew he couldn’t win alone.

Swallowing his pride, he called for Ryu and Mia. The trio launched their final assault. Just like in the anime, Bell created a trap based on Finn’s advice. Mia was the first to act, recognizing Bell’s plan. Then Ryu. Then Bell himself, after charging for 60 seconds—unleashing his Limit-Off Grand Bell attack.

The result? A massive explosion referred to in the novel as Forpole Fang. Ottar took the full brunt, sent flying and brought to his knees.

Finally, Bell had spoken the only language Ottar understood—strength.

And that earned him five minutes.

That was all their combined effort could buy. Five minutes. After that, Ottar promised to continue the fight.

And that’s pretty much it for the fated showdown between Bell and Ottar.

I figured I should finish this.
